  • A new stage of development in photography

NLS study methods are becoming increasingly available in the primary diagnosis of diseases of the abdominal organs. Until now, NLS images have been 2D, which did not cover the dimensional interrelationships of the structures under investigation. To fundamentally improve NLS image quality, significant improvements in information content and accuracy are required.

That is why the emergence of the Biophilia Intruder with its 3D image feasibility becomes a new stage of development for NLS-graphy. The multidimensional reconstruction mode is based on the rendering of 3 mutually perpendicular imaging planes of the organ. The advantage of this approach is to obtain accurate topographic-anatomical correlations between target structures, thereby improving image perception.

The prognostic significance of 3D nonlinear image reconstruction in practical diagnosis is currently still being updated. One of the possible upcoming trends in the use of a given procedure is the early detection of pathological changes in gastrointestinal organs, which require urgent and scheduled surgical measures.

NLS diagnosis may become the procedure of choice to detect bile duct stones and degree of dilation. When examining patients with choledocholithiasis, the classic picture of stones is various forms of hyperpigmented structures (score 5-6 on the Fleindler scale). The diagnostic accuracy of 3D NLS for choledocholithiasis exceeds 95.0%.

The minimum size of a stone detected in the gallbladder is approximately 5 mm. For use with first generation NLS diagnostic systems. The accuracy of images of stones and gallbladder walls obtained significantly improved when using the 3D picture reconstruction mode in Biophilia Intruder.
